Our Culture
We exist as a practice of Chartered Accountants to help individuals start/acquire and run their own business.
ClientCentric
We believe passionately that the success of, both, our clients and of
Whiting & Partners is linked to the quality of the relationship between our partners
and our clients. Our partner led service pro-actively advises our clients in the manner that they would wish to be advised
themselves. We offer a truly personalised service to fit each client's unique requirements. As well as assisting you with your accounting and tax compliance responsibilities, we will identify and advise you on the 'key issues' as we see them.
SME Businesses
Although we act for numerous large businesses and
various specialist organisations, our focus has traditionally been
SME owner managed businesses and the individuals behind them. We therefore intimately understand how
such businesses work, what their aspirations are and how they require our help with taking
away the worry of compliance matters and in minimising their tax payments.
Critical Mass
In accountancy firm terms we are a medium sized practice, with partners and staff numbering approximately 150.
This gives us the ability to provide the specialist services (such as cost reduction analysis, private company share valuations and corporate finance) offered by the larger
accountancy practices, but at the competitive levels of fees you would expect from the provinces.
Old and New
As a firm which has been trading since 1928, we are a mixture of both
old and new. We are principled in the core ethics of integrity, confidentiality and honesty.
We also embrace the new advances that the 21st Century offers
through computerisation and communication. In addition, we are only too aware that in
this modern world, everything changes quickly, and businesses must continually evolve in
order to survive and prosper.
East Anglia
Although in the modern world of communications we act for
clients all over the world, we are firmly established as part of the business fabric within the heartland of East Anglia,
where our 8 offices are located in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk. We understand the culture of business in this area, particularly
its opposing biases towards businesses traditionally associated with agriculture and those
operating in hi-tec fields.
Our People
As a firm, we experience high levels of staff and partner continuity. Most of our staff and partners were recruited to the practice, trained with us to pass their professional exams and have remained with us since.
Unlike many of our competitors, we still invest heavily in training staff to become qualified at AAT, ACCA, ACA and CTA levels. To ensure we keep up to date with the thought process and workings of 'the Revenue' we also actively recruit ex HM Revenue & Customs staff, including at HM Inspector of Taxes grade. We have a diverse and substantial internal training programme, to keep our advisers at the forefront of their professional work.
As a client, this means that you will have faith that your Whitings adviser will be fully up to date technically and possess
knowledge of your affairs which dates back many years. This means that you will not have to waste
time explaining past events to a different adviser each year and that our advice will be tailored to your past
modus operandi.
Specialisms
To deliver high professional quality work and best advice to our clients we have set up specialist service units of partners
and staff, to enable them to become thought leaders in their chosen field of specialism:
